did you decide a few weeks ago that hosting a holiday get together would be "super fun" and now you're dreading the masses descending upon your place? don't worry. We made some easy and festive appetizers and some delicious warm booze. does warm booze not sound good? why do you hate the holidays?

ingredients

  • 6 slices sourdough or 12 small slices of other baguette (we had a loaf of sourdough, so we used a cookie cutter to make them bite sized-two pieces per slice)
  • 1 1/2 TBSP olive oil
  • 2 TBSP softened butter
  • 1/2 tsp Maldon salt
  • 3 TBSP dried cranberries, chopped (you can use any dried fruit)
  • 1/2 oz. brie cheese (you really can't go wrong buying more here, cause you know you're going to eat some while you're cooking)
  • 1 TBSP roasted pistachios, coarsely chopped
  • 2 TBSP honey

brie and pistachio crostini

serves 6

  1. Preheat the oven to 350 degrees F.
  2. In a cookie sheet with a lip (also called a jelly roll pan) evenly drizzle olive oil in the bottom of the pan.
  3. Smear one side of the bread with a bit of butter and place on cookie sheet butter side up.
  4. Top each slice with evenly distributed salt and dried fruit.
  5. Thinly slice brie and top each slice of bread with enough brie to cover the bread and dried fruit.
  6. Bake in the oven for 15 minutes.
  7. Once out of the oven, top with pistachios and drizzle with honey. It's OK to be messy with this step!
  8. Serve and enjoy!
